These unusual months were still full of action though, with two new articles involving members of the lab published! First, congratulations to Maude, Émile and Vincent for their article allowing a better understanding of the role of surfactin during biofilm formation in Bacillus subtilis. This article emerged from a fruitful collaboration with Ákos Kovács and his lab, whom I met during a meeting in China in 2018. A second wave of congratulations for Vincent and Maude, as well as Assena, for their work looking at colonization of ornamental plants by Bacillus subtilis and Bacillus velezensis and the proportion of spores in commercial growth conditions. This time, this article was born out of a very nice collaboration with Plant Select (Saint-Paul-d'Abbotsford), which allowed us access to their greenhouses and plants and put at our disposal the expertise of their R&D team.
Work (with a 2 m distance, always!) is going well in the lab, which is in reduced personnel this summer, since undergrad and international students have left. We also had a big departure since Martin finished his master degree. His smile, his interpersonal skills, his talent as a mentor and his efficiency, among other qualities, made him an important member of the lab. Best of luck for the next step in your career!
